LESSON PLAN - CARPENTRY

Performance Standard:
The learner independently prepares carpentry tools and construction materials based on industry standards.

I-Objectives:   At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to;
1. Identify the different materials and tools used in carpentry,
2. Discuss the different tools and materials used in carpentry,
3. Participate in class activity,
4.Value the importance of having the availability of carpentry tools and materials
at home.

II- Subject Matter:   
Topic:(lesson 1 of LC no.1.2)Carpentry tools and construction materials

B.   Motivation:
The teacher will show different houses that made of wood.
          Guide Questions:
1.    What can you say about the picture?
2.    What do you think the tools and materialsuse in constructing the House?

C. Unlocking of Difficulties:
The teacher will present the words, Tools and Materials on the board. 
She will call students to share their ideas of what is Tool/Material.
Material       a stuff upon which a thing is made
Tool            a simple implement, as a hammer, saw, and spade chisel etc.

D.   Lesson Proper       :
Activity:
(3 COLUMN ORGANIZER)
Ø  The teacher will group the students into 4 groups
Ø  The teacher will give each group 3 pictures of carpentry tools and materials.
Ø  In the board the teacher will create 3 column organizers and write each column “Uses, Tools and Materials”
Ø  Each group will be given 5 minutes to research using  their mobile phones, 2 minutes to post the pictures on the board and another 3 minutes to write the function/uses and post it on the board
Ø  Each correct answer will receive 5 pts.
Ø  Any question?

   Analysis :
1.    What can you say about the activity?
2.    How did you feel while doing the activity?
3.    How did you find working with your group?
4.    What are the different tools and materials?
5.    Why do you think it is important to know the different tools use in carpentry?

 Abstraction:
Showing power point presentation (lecture)
The teacher will discuss the different carpentry tools and materials.

Nails  
- made of metal used for fastening woods
Cement 
- a powdered substance which when mixed with water acts as  binder of aggregate

- fine gritty, substance found in the shore and desert

- thin cross laminated sheet of wood

- used for measuring long distances


Claw hammer 
- used for driving and pulling out nails
Cross-cut-saw
- tool used for cutting across the grain
Ripsaw   
- used for cutting along the grain
Plumb-bob  
- used for vertical alignment

- used to test the squareness of a stock
Hack saw  
- fine toothed saw used to cut metals and pipes
Level bar  
- tool used in checking vertical and horizontal position

2.    How do you read the push-pull rule?
3.    What are the systems of measurements?
4.    How do you read the inches and centimetre?
5.    What are the different carpentry materials?
6.    What are the different sizes of the nails?
7.    Why do you think the importance of having the availability of carpentry tools and materials at home?
Application:  Text Rush
          The teacher will group the students into four.The teacher will read the function or uses of the different carpentry tools and materials. Each group should have 1 cellphone with load. The number will be posted on the board and the students/group will send their answer thru text. The first group who send their correct answer will receive 2pts.

Direction: List down 7   carpentry tools and  5 carpentry materials. write your answer on your answer sheet.
