DETAILED LESSON PLAN - HAZARD AND RISK - HOUSEHOLD SERVICES

I. Objectives: 
              At the end of the period the TLE Grade 8 students are expected to. 
                             a. Define Hazard and Risk;
                             b. Identify the 5 types of hazard;
                             c. Explain the difference between hazard and risk and;
                             d. Value the importance of teamwork during class activity.
II. Subject Matter:

a.   Content: PRACTICE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PROCEDURES (OS)
b.    Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the core concepts compliance with regulatory andorganizational requirements foroccupational health and safety inHS.
c.    Performance Standard:independently complies with the regulatory and organizational requirements for occupational health and safety in HS

Ø  The teacher will show a picture and let the students identify what are the Hazards in the picture.





D.Lesson Proper
ACTIVITY
“COPY CUT GAME”
Ø  Group the students into 4 groups the teacher will give the instruction or the mechanics of the game.
Ø  Each group will copy or act the given pictures of different hazards in the work place.1. Fire accident. 2. Chemical Accident. And 3. Machine accident.
Ø  There will be 3 judges who will judge who among the group copy or act the pictures correctly.
Ø  Each correct act will receive 5 points each.

ANALYSIS
        (The teacher will check who among the student copy it correctly. after checking the teacher will ask the following questions )
Ø  What can you say about the activity?
Ø  How did you feel while doing the activity?
Ø  How did you feel while doing the activity with your group mates?

Ø  Today, we will discuss about types of hazard and the difference between hazard and risk.

Ø  Very good! Many biological hazards are associated with food, including certain viruses, parasites, fungi, bacteria, and plant and seafood toxins.

Ø  What is chemical hazard?

Ø  What is physical hazard?


Ø  Correct! Who can give me example of physical hazard?
Ø  Some chemicals occur naturally in certain geological formations, such as radon gas or arsenic. Other chemicals include products with commercial uses, such as agricultural and industrial chemicals, as well as products developed for home use.
Ø  What is ergonomic hazard?


Ø  Who can give me example of ergonomic hazard?
Ø  Correct! Ergonomic hazards include uncomfortable workstation height and poor body positioning. Ergonomic hazards are caused by poorly designed workplaces or processes. Examples are poor lighting, or a job that requires you to repeat the same movement over and over.
Ø  What is mechanical hazard?


Ø  Who can give me example of mechanical hazard?
Ø  Motor vehicles, aircraft, and air bags pose mechanical hazards. Compressed gases or liquids can also be considered a mechanical hazard.

APPLICATION
  “KAHOOT GAME”
Ø  Since the students are already by group the teacher will give the instruction or the mechanics of the game.

HOW TO PLAY

·         The teacher will Pick one Kahoots questions below (15 Questions about types of hazards).
·         The teacher will Connect a device android cellphone to a projector or screen in front of the classroom.
·         Press “Launch” button.
·         At Kahoot.it, students enter game-pin and nickname on their own devices ( only one phone, tablet, or computer).
·         Press “Start now” to let the fun begin!
·         Students answer questions on their own devices by selecting one of the four answer buttons.each correct answer will receive 5 pts each.

Ø  Ma’am the 3 Modes of hazards are Dormant,Active and Armed mode.

Ø  Dormant - The situation has the potential to be hazardous, but no people, property, or environment is currently affected by this.
Ø  Armed - People, property, or environment are in potential harm's way.
Ø  A harmful incident involving the hazard has actually occurred. Often this is referred to not as an "active hazard" but as an accident, emergency, incident, or disaster.

Ø  Ma’am the room are so dirty and not in order or not arrange.
Ø  The oven is plug but it is on the floor so when somebody will pass he or she can slide and have an accident.

Ø  Ma’am Biological Hazards!

Ø  A biological hazard is one originating from an organism that is foreign (in presence or concentration) to the organism being affected.
Ø  Ma’am Disease in humans can come from biological hazards in the form of infection by bacteria, viruses, or parasites.




Ø  A chemical can be considered a hazard if by virtue of its intrinsic properties can cause harm or danger to humans, property, or the environment.
Ø  Pesticides, which are normally used to control unwanted insects and plants, may cause a variety of negative effects on non-target organisms.










Ø  It is a physical factor within the environment that harms the musculoskeletal system.


Ø  Not sitting Properly for longer period of time it can hurt the back of the person.





Ø  A mechanical hazard is any hazard involving a machine or process.
Ø  Ma’am motorcycle accident.

Ø  a hazard is any biological, chemical, mechanical, or physical agent that is reasonably likely to cause harm or damage to humans or the environment with sufficient exposure or dos Risk is defined as the probability that exposure to a hazard will lead to a negative consequence,


Ø  to prevent accidents and sickness absence, it's important to identify, monitor and reduce the risk associated with workplace hazards.



Ø  The students will start answering the questions in Kahoot Games.


















Ø  The activity game ma’am is enjoyable and you can learn at the same time.
Ø  Ma’am it is fun especially working with the group.
Ø  to prevent accidents and sickness absence not only in the workplace but also inside the classroom.
Ø  Ma’am to prevent accidents when doing household services.
